Photo Editing

Apple

I played around with the curves to increase the brightness and make the colours more intense and this made the apple a lot more red and vibrant looking.

Buttons

I wanted to play around with adding a colour background so I selected the white around the buttons and played around with the colour balance to add in a different colour.

I tried this out with the page but it was difficult to create a colour that didn't clash with some of the buttons and begin to overpower them. Because of this I decided to stick with the white.

I kept the background the same but improved the image by playing around with the curves to make the colours brighter and more vibrant.

Confetti

I played around with the curves to brighten the background as it looked a little dull, and increase the intensity of the confetti colours.

Daisy

I played around with the curves to increase the intensity of the colours of the grass and daisies. Because this picture was taken in the sun the brightness and intensity was already very good so it didn't need much tweaking as too much would have made it too bright and began to lighten the image.

Erase

The image was quite dull so I deepened it and increased the intensity of the colours by adjusting the curves. This upped the contrast between the black and grey and made it stand out a lot more.

Fur

The lighting in the image was very dull so I increased the brightness and then played around with the curves to increase the intensity.

Glitter

I first played around with the curves to brighten up the image. I then cleaned up the excess glitter around the edges to give it a cleaner and more professional look.

Hay

The contrast between the background and hay was quite subtle so I increased this and darkened the image using the curves.

Ice

I wanted to add more depth to the image and increase the shadows and intensity so I played around with the curves.

Jellybeans

This image was already quite bright and vibrant so I did some subtle editing using the curves just to brighten it up a little more.

Knitting

I increased the brightness using the curves but again the image was already very light and quite vibrant so it didn't need too many tweaks.

Lipstick

The image looked a little dull so I played around with the curves to increase the brightness and make it more vibrant. I also increased the vibrance slider to make it even more intense because I wanted the pink to really stand out.

Match

This image looked a bit dull so I used the curves to brighten it up a little, it was also quite cool toned so doing this gave it a warmer tone.

Needle

This image was already quite bright as I took it with flash, so I used the curves to brighten up the background and further increase the contrast of the green to give it a bigger contrast against the white and really make it stand out.

Oak

I wanted to up the vibrance and contrast in this image so I used the curves to warm up the colours and make it bolder.

Pompom

First I brightened up the colours in the pom poms and made them more intense. My design for the page facing this image had a white background to go with multicoloured text so I decided to add a coloured background to this one so that the spread wasn't fully white. I selected the pom poms and put them on a separate layer which allowed me to colour the background without affecting them. I chose a subtle pink because it complimented the other colours without overpowering them.

Quartz

The picture looked very dull and dark so first I increased the brightness, and then I used the curves tool to increase the contrast of the colours and give the image more depth.

Rice

I got rid of the dullness in the image by using the curves tool to brighten it up. This also gave it more depth by darkening the shadows.

Shadow

I wanted to make the lighter part of the image brighter and the background darker to help the light stand out more so I used the curves to achieve this.

Tape

I used flash to take this image so it didn't need much doing so I just used the curves tool to brighten it a little more and make the colours a bit more intense.

Untie

The background to this image was a little dark so I used the brightness and curves tools to brighten it up and make the pink bolder and have a bigger contrast against the background so it stood out more.

Vine

The image looked quite dull so I used the curves and vibrance tools to increase the contrast and make it warmer and brighter. This made the green really stand out against the background.

Watercolour

This was taken with flash so again I just used the curves tool to increase the contrast of the blue and brighten up the white to make the letter stand out more.

X marks the spot

This image was a bit dark so I used the brightness and curves tools to lighten it up and to also increase the contrast and vibrance of the red to make it stand out more against the background.

Yolk

I first used the curves tool to make the image a little warmer and brighter, and because I had trouble creating the letter on the actual yolk, I had to use photoshop to add on the 'y'. I chose a colour that matched the natural colour of the inner yolk, and used a soft brush and layer modes to draw it over the yolk. I think the effect turned out really well and it looks like it was cut out of the yolk originally instead of being added after.

Zip

This image was very dark so I used the brightness and curves tools to lighten the background, make the blue more intense, and increase the contrast between the two colours to make the letter really stand out.
